The Lusaka Integrated Solid Waste Management Company Limited (LISWMC) was born out of a need to professionalize and streamline waste management services in Zambia's capital. Following a formal resolution by the Lusaka City Council, the company was incorporated under the Companies Act No. 10 of 2017. This transition marked a significant shift from waste management being a direct municipal function to a structured corporate entity with a focused mandate. The company operates within the provisions of the Solid Waste Regulation and Management Act (SWRMA) No. 20 of 2018, which provides the legal foundation for modern, sustainable, and inclusive waste management practices in Zambia.
